Koa – A Symbol of Strength and Renewal

The majestic Koa (Acacia koa) is one of Hawaiʻi's most treasured native trees, representing strength, resilience, courage, and integrity. Deeply grounded in Hawaiian culture, Koa has long been used to craft waʻa (canoes), tools, and other treasured objects, while standing as a symbol of perseverance and growth.

Today, Koa continues to play an essential role in restoring Hawaiʻi's native forests. As a nitrogen-fixing tree, it helps enrich the soil, supports healthy watersheds, reduces erosion, captures carbon from the atmosphere, and provides vital habitat for many of Hawaiʻi's endangered native birds and other species.

This special Koa Collection was created in honor of the Waiākea High School community, celebrating the strength and resilience that define every Warrior.

For every piece purchased, one native Hawaiian tree will be planted to help restore Hawaiʻi's forests. The remaining profits from this collection will be donated to the Waiākea High School Foundation to support future generations of students and educational opportunities.

Each hand-drawn design is a tribute to our ʻāina, our culture, and the ecosystems we strive to protect. Made from recycled polyester, these garments offer a sustainable choice for those who care deeply about our ʻāina. For every garment created, a tree is planted to help restore and replenish our flora and fauna. This collection is a small but meaningful way to mālama our ʻāina and stay grounded in aloha. Wear it with pride, knowing you’re part of something greater—an eco-warrior movement to care for our planet, one garment at a time.

Because this collection is being created exclusively as a pre-order for Waiākea alumni and supporters, each garment is ordered specifically for you. KoaMalu Collective will not be carrying additional inventory or extra sizes once the pre-order closes.

For that reason, all pre-order sales are final — no returns, refunds, or size exchanges.

We would love to magically pull another size out of the closet if something doesn’t fit… but unfortunately, there is no secret closet. 😄 Each piece is being made specifically for this commemorative collection.
